Bite-SizE Basics: Pelvic Locks

The pelvis is a fundamental part of many key belly dancing movements. We will start small with learning the difference between imprint and neutral and then apply our new knowledge while doing standing drills. Pelvic awareness can lead to safer posture and gorgeous hip movements.

You've learned the combinations... let's put them together and dance a whole song through! This video is for those familiar with the Metamorphosis vocabulary (with the assumption that you've also learned Foundation).
Capricorn is a 16 count combination in our Metamorphosis slow vocabulary. It gives a nod to famous belly dance Capricorns, Zoe Jakes and Carolena Nerriccio-Bohlman.
Chest lifts and drops are great on their own for accenting music or making fun combinations. They are also the foundation for learning more challenging chest and ribcage movements.
Serpent is a 24 count slow combination featuring lots of funky hipwork and quick turns. Isolations include pelvic mayas, elbow lifts, hip drops, and more!
Good dancing begins with good posture. Violet will walk you through the key components to beautiful posture. Beginners, be prepared to receive a lot of information and watch again! Experienced dancers, try and find one area of the body where you can bring your focus to in order to improve your posture.
