Getting TO Mankato
MSP Airport - This is the closest major airport to our beloved city of Mankato. We are a 1.5 hour drive from MSP; it's not so bad, we do this trek all the time!
Land to Air Shuttle - Get to Mankato from MSP and back for $65 round trip. Schedule in advance!
Use the Facebook group for your specific training - Other students may be arriving around the same time as you; share a ride! Links will be sent to the Facebook group upon registration.
Suggestions for Accommodations + Discounts
AirBnB - Local residents rent out entire homes/apartments OR single rooms. Use your best judgement and READ ALL REVIEWS CAREFULLY. We've used this resource several times. Less expensive than a hotel, usually, with more options and you could look for one that has a kitchen. If you've never used the site before, use Violet's referral code here to get $40 in credit toward your stay! P.S. This has worked well for previous dance intensives if you'd like to share housing with other students.
Hilton Garden Inn Mankato Downtown - 1.5 miles from the studio; a half-hour walk or a four-minute drive. A nice hotel with some delicious cheesecake in the restaurant downstairs. Plus, there's a hot tub, and we're sure that will come in handy after the long days of dancing. There are several restaurants, bars, and a grocery store within a couple minutes walking distance.
Use the Facebook group - Once you have registered for your intensive, you will be added to a Facebook group with other registrants of the same intensive. Feel free to network and use the group to set up group-housing or a shared hotel situation.
Things To Do
If you like to shop... Vagabond Village for eclectic and vintage clothing, River Hills Mall for any of your regular shopping needs, and find lots of little boutique shops on Riverfront Drive or Front Street. We also have some fun vintage shops and thrift stores!
If you like to move... Check out one of our many walking trails, parks, waterfalls or go on a river adventure. We also have a lot of options for dance classes: Belly dance, aerial, pole, burlesque... you name it.
If you need somewhere to study... for a super fun and friendly atmosphere with vegetarian options, check out the Coffee Hag (not too far from the studio!), WYSIWYG Juice Co. for an entire gluten-free menu and lots of healthy choices (by the way, they are closed on Sunday), or Bluebird Cakery for delicious cupcakes and treats (they usually have something gluten-free, too).
